Travel in Bulgaria can be challenging, especially during the hot, dry days of summer. Two of Reach A Village’s ministry partners there are committed to doing an annual summer visiting tour around the country. They take time to meet with and encourage local ministry leaders who are sharing the Gospel in remote villages.
During one of their visits in summer 2021, they met *Blagoy who leads teams of local believers as they tell others about Jesus. Blagoy asked them to go with him on a special visit while they were there.
“There are many unreached Muslims in a nearby village,” Blagoy told them. “I have become friends with Penko, one of their leaders.” Blagoy claimed Jesus’ promise in Matthew 18: “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:19–20).
When the three men arrived in the neighboring village, Blagoy immediately led them to a remote house. Penko was waiting for them there. “This is where I welcome my Christian friends,” Penko said. “I am 74 years old, and I am still afraid of being rejected by my community. They do not want to hear the Gospel of Jesus.”
That day, Blagoy and his friends spent several hours talking with Penko about Jesus. Then Penko, with tears in his eyes, repented and began to talk about Jesus as his Savior. “He told us he wants to be a witness for our Lord,” Blagoy says. “We are blessed to see this great miracle. Followers of Jesus have been sharing the Gospel here for 25 years. God showed us the fruit of those labors. We know this is a result of the prayers of many people who are praying for our ministry. To God be the glory!”
