Dida and Margarita (pictured) arrived in a village in Bulgaria to attend a meeting. They were looking for a place to eat lunch, but didn’t find a single open restaurant in the village.
Margarita asked a boy on the street if he knew where they could find something to eat, and he invited them to his aunt's house. His aunt, Angelina, quickly prepared a meal for them. As they talked together, Dida and Margarita told her about Jesus.
Angelina, a Muslim, showed great interest in the Gospel. She invited Dida and Margarita to visit her again that evening and tell her more about God. When they arrived, Angelina and her entire extended family greeted them.
“Everyone listened to the Good News with great interest,” Margarita says. “Angelina began to ask questions. Dida told her about the salvation that comes only from Jesus.”
Then, Angelina told them how unhappy her life was. She had made three unsuccessful attempts to commit suicide, and the last one had been just three days prior to meeting Dida and Margarita.
“Angelina accepted the saving message of Jesus and repented in prayer that night,” Dida says. “Her face was shining! When she saw the Bible we had brought as a gift, she grabbed it, held it closely, and said, ‘This is the Word of my God!’”
Soon, Angelina agreed to open her home for regular Bible study meetings led by one of Reach A Village’s ministry leaders. “We pray that God will open the hearts of all her family to repentance and faith,” Margarita says. “We pray that soon all the people of this village will be worshiping the one true God.”
