Praying for the sick is a common ministry for followers of Jesus. Praying with people who are so sick they cannot leave their beds is the special calling of Pastor Boris. He is one of the most dedicated servants of God in the northwestern region of Bulgaria.
One day, Pastor Boris and his wife received an invitation from Vera’s relatives, asking them to come to her home and pray for her. She was in great pain, both physical and spiritual. She and her family knew about Jesus, but they didn’t know him as their Lord and Savior.
For two months, Pastor Boris visited Vera and prayed for her. Then she underwent a very difficult surgical procedure. Her quick, successful recovery followed. That was the encouragement she needed to begin meeting with Pastor Boris and the group of Christ followers he leads.
“When I heard Pastor Boris and those believers share the Gospel, I knew what was missing in my life,” Vera says. “I needed the Lord. I decided to follow Him.”
As Pastor Boris was baptizing Vera in the Danube River on Easter Sunday, her daughter, son, and daughter-in-law plus eight other people came forward to accept Jesus and be baptized. “Now we are all following Jesus together,” Vera says. “There is no greater gift than seeing those you love walk with the Lord.”
