How do you spend your evening after a long day at work? I try to relax by reading a book or watching my favorite TV series. Sometimes I need to send a message to several people in the evening. And, of course, it’s easier to do this by creating a group message instead of sending a message to each person individually. I send it once, and everyone receives it at once. This saves me time, and I can relax more.
What do you think Christ’s evening looked like after a long day at work? The Gospel of Luke, chapter 4, gives us a glimpse. “When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them” (Luke 4:40).
Do you know what else Jesus did that day? He taught in the synagogue, and there He cast out a demon from a man. Then He went to Peter’s house and healed Peter’s mother-in-law from a fever. And He did everything simply with His word!
By evening, there should have been time to rest. But people kept bringing the sick and possessed to Him so that He could heal them.
Why didn't Jesus use the same method this time? Why didn't He say a word, and everyone was healed at once? Why did He lay His hands on each of the sick people who came, despite being tired after His day's work?
Jesus loves every person. He cares about each one individually! And He wanted to touch each of them! He wants to personally touch each of us today.
The next morning, Jesus left Capernaum. The people held Him back, wanting Him to stay with them. But Jesus had a desire to bring the Good News to other people, in other cities and villages.
Reach A Village’s mission is to bring the touch of the Lord to people in all cities and villages where Christ has not yet been preached. There are those who are waiting and are not indifferent to Him. There are those who thirst for His touch. The steps of believers are directed to where people are waiting to hear, following the example of Christ.
We invite you to join this mission so that the touch of the Lord reaches more people on our planet. Together, we will continue the mission that Jesus began here.
